THE MALPRACTICE LAW FIRM
JACK H. OLENDER & ASSOCIATES, P.C.
DR. ROBERT CHABON, PEDIATRICIAN AND
LAWYER, OF COUNSEL. KAREN EVANS,
REGISTERED NURSE AND TRIAL LAWYER.
The malpractice law firm represents, on a contingent-fee basis, people catastrophically injured and families
of people killed by substandard medical care and other
negligence. There is no fee unless the firm obtains a
settlement, jury verdict or court judgment.
Attorneys Harlow Case, Jack Olender (Top 100), Melissa
Rhea and Sandra Robinson are again selected in Super
Lawyers®. In addition, the firm was rated “First Tier” of law
firms in malpractice and personal injury in the inaugural
U.S. News “Best Law Firms” edition.
Jack Olender, who is the only plaintiff’s malpractice/
personal injury lawyer named by Legal Times as one of “The
90 Greatest Washington Lawyers of the Last 30 Years,”
leads a team that brings a broad range of medical, nursing
and scientific knowledge and experience to bear on each
case. Dr. Robert Chabon, a board-certified pediatrician
and lawyer, is of counsel to the firm and helps evaluate
and prepare cases. Karen Evans is a registered nurse and
trial lawyer who spent ten years as a defense lawyer for
physicians’ and hospitals’ insurance companies before
joining the firm ten years ago. Four have been elected “Trial
Lawyer of the Year” by the D.C. Trial Lawyers Association.
From the inception of a case to the verdict or settlement,
the firm’s trial and mediation experience (over 150 years
combined) is evident. Even as the scientific standards of
the courtroom grow more rigorous, the team continues to
succeed, calling upon reputable, experienced physicians
to provide expert medical testimony. “It’s not enough for
a doctor to get on the stand and say, ‘This is the way it
is.’ You’ve got to be able to back it up with the medical
literature and standards,” says Olender.
Jack Olender won the first multimillion-dollar obstetric
malpractice verdict in the country in 1976. His client was
a little girl with cerebral palsy. Since then, he and his
law firm have won or settled more than 200 cases that
resulted in million-dollar-plus recoveries. Many of the
cases have been for children who suffered cerebral palsy
from labor and delivery mistakes. “Seeing our work enable
a disabled child and family to live a better and happier life
is our greatest reward,” Olender says.
