Lisa has been named in the Minnesota Rising Stars list every
year since 2004. Knowledge of the law and dedication to
her clients has won Lisa recognition by both her peers and
her clients. Lisa represents clients in all aspects of family law
including dissolution actions, paternity actions, child custody,
child support, spousal maintenance, and post-decree matters.
She has specific expertise in many complex business matters
surrounding dissolutions and also in appellate representation.
Lisa is especially known for her knowledge and proficiency in
the complicated area of preparation and implementation of
Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) – the division of
retirement assets in connection with the dissolution.
J. Lee Novelli practices exclusively in the area of family law. She
graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law,
where she was an Articles Editor for the prestigious Human
Rights Quarterly law journal. Ms. Novelli earned a B.A. degree in
English literature, with honors, from The Ohio State University.
She has represented parties in matters involving a wide variety
of family law issues, including complex marital estates, spousal
maintenance, custody, and parenting time. She is an active
member of the Hennepin County Bar Association, where she
presently serves on the Board of the Family Law Section and
the Minnesota State Bar Association.
Michele’s practice is devoted exclusively to family law at the
district court and appellate court levels. She focuses on creative,
respectful, realistic, and cost-effective solutions that will allow
parties to move ahead as healthy individuals, confident in their
children’s well-being and financial security. Michele graduated
from William Mitchell College of Law in 2002 and served
three years as a Judicial Law Clerk in Hennepin County Family
Court. She is trained in collaborative law and as a mediator and
arbitrator under Rule 114. Michele is an adjunct Representation
Professor at William Mitchell College of Law. Her volunteer
work includes the Hennepin County Pro Bono Task Force and
Volunteer Lawyers Network. She was admitted to practice law
in Minnesota in 2002, in Wisconsin in 2003, and before the U.S.
District Court – District of Minnesota in 2003.

year, Julie K. Seymour has extensive experience and

Brendan loves to sue insurance companies on behalf of

before state courts in Minnesota and North Dakota as well as
federal courts at both the district and appellate levels. He is a
2004 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul,
MN, where he was honored as a Collegiate All-American
Scholar and recognized for his public service. He is also a
1999 graduate from Jamestown College in Jamestown, ND,
where he played for the Hall of Fame Jimmies Football Team

Peter G. Nikolai graduated from the University of Minnesota
in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies.
He received his Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from the
William Mitchell College of Law. Peter concentrates on litigation
matters and the areas of trademarks, copyrights, protection
of software, and intellectual property portfolio management.
He has successfully represented clients in federal and state
court, before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and in
arbitrations. Peter is admitted to practice before the courts of
the State of Minnesota and the United States District Court,
District of Minnesota.
