Tim Bianchi is a patent attorney with bachelor’s and master’s
degrees in electrical engineering. He advises businesses in
domestic and international patenting, reexamination, opinions,
licensing and enforcement. Tim’s patent experience includes
electronics, software, medical devices, telecommunications,
e-commerce, digital electronics, digital signal processing,
computer security, embedded processor designs, hearing aids,
network hardware and software, wireless signaling, and RFID.
He represents a variety of large and small companies. Tim has
engineering experience from former employment with IBM
and Honeywell. Tim chairs AIPLA’s Electronics and Computer
Law Patent Prosecution Committee and local committees on
patent prosecution. He is a frequent speaker on intellectual
property topics.
Bradley A. Forrest is a registered patent attorney, shareholder,
and chairman at Schwegman Lundberg & Woessner, P.A.
His practice focuses on patent prosecution for complex
technologies, freedom to operate, opinion work, and licensing.
Brad received both his B.S.E.E. (1978) and law degree (J.D., 1981)
from the University of Minnesota. With IBM for eleven years,
Brad wrote several key patents, including RAID V and IPC, which
were extensively licensed. Brad was President (2001-2002)
of the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association and
past Committee Chair and Vice Chair of both the Emerging
Technologies Committee and Electronics and Computer
Law Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law
Association. In addition, Brad is an AIPLA Fellow and an active
international speaker on intellectual property protection.
Steven W. Lundberg is a registered patent attorney and
founding partner of Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner. His
practice is focused on patent protection for software, medical,
and telecommunications technology and related opinion and
licensing matters. Steve received his B.S.E.E. in 1978 from
the University of Minnesota and his law degree from William
Mitchell College of Law (J.D., 1982). He has published and
spoken widely on software and electronic patent protection
and is active in the Software Publishers Association and
the Computer and Electronics Committee of the American
Intellectual Property Law Association. He is also co-editor of
the treatise Electronic and Software Patents: Law and Practice,
published by BNA Books.

Mr. Mueller graduated with a B.S., magna cum laude, from
Central Michigan University and a J.D., with honors, from
George Washington University and has over 30 years of
experience in the intellectual property field. He is part of HSML’s
Asian Practice Group and is one of the attorneys with primary
responsibility for the firm’s practice in Japan. Mr. Mueller’s
practice focuses on U.S. and international patent prosecution
including reexaminations and interferences, and opinions
and counseling clients with respect to business strategies.

Micheal L. Schwegman is a registered patent attorney and a

His practice includes patent prosecution, opinions and licensing,
copyrights, employment agreements, technology licensing, and
development agreements. His primary technology areas are
electronics, computer hardware and software, medical devices,
and optics. Mike received his B.S.E.E. from Northwestern
University and his law degree from William Mitchell College
of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1972). Mike is a member of the
American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American
Bar Association, the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law
Association, the Minnesota State Bar Association, and the
Hennepin County Bar Association.
A veteran intellectual property attorney, Randall Skaar is a
partner at Skaar Ulbrich Macari, P.A. Randall is admitted
to practice before the USPTO and is an experienced trial
lawyer. He has been lead trial counsel in more than 50 patent
infringement cases and has successfully represented notable
companies such as Home Depot, Owens Corning, and Cardiac
Science in venues located in 15 states. Randall’s experience
covers a variety of fields including mechanical, electrical and
chemical technologies. Randall received a B.S. in electrical
engineering from the University of Minnesota and earned his
J. D. from Hamline University School of Law.

Warren D. Woessner is a founding shareholder of Schwegman,
Lundberg & Woessner, P.A. His practice is focused on chemical
patent law, including client counseling, opinion work, and
solutions for complex prosecution problems in the areas of
biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and bioenergy.
Warren received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry and his law
degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He served

Sylvia Ivey Zinn is an experienced civil litigator, having tried

the American Arbitration Association. Ms. Zinn is a regular
seminar faculty member for several continuing legal education
associations. Her skills have been praised in the Minnesota
Lawyer and by the Judges’ Choice Awards, and she has been
recognized in the Super Lawyers list. Ms. Zinn has authored
materials on civil litigation, including the arbitration chapter
for Minnesota Practice. Currently, Ms. Zinn is a member of the
