IMPACT Randall Scarlett, named in Super Lawyers® since

2006, spent time working with Drew Dakota Bianchi, a 21-year- old who suffered traumatic brain injury when two big-rig trucks collided and struck the car in which he was riding. After a hotly contested six-week trial, the jury awarded Bianchi $49.1 million, which included more than $27 million for future medical care.

“My passion has been representing survivors of traumatic brain injuries and their families,” says Scarlett of the Scarlett Law Group. “The challenge when you’re talking about catastrophic harm is establishing the value of therapy.” Scarlett has successfully handled a wide range of catastrophic injury cases, including spinal cord injuries, paralysis, loss of limbs and wrongful death. He has achieved record verdicts, including $26 million for a brain-injured child and $22.8

million for a 52-year-old brain-injured woman.

demonstrate the benefits of care. Scarlett’s experience gives him particular insight. He utilizes PowerPoint, imaging tools, animations, visibility studies, video, photos, graphs and charts as creative demonstrative evidence. He was the first lawyer in the country to successfully introduce brain gel, an agent that duplicates brain characteristics, during a trial.

ADVOCACY Scarlett is a current member and past vice
president of the California Brain Injury Association (CALBIA).

He serves as seminar director of the CALBIA’s California Medical/Legal Conference. He is a member of the American Association for Justice and past chair of its traumatic brain injury litigation section. He is board certified by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys.
