With this issue, we are pleased to present a freshly
redesigned Super Lawyers Magazine. We’ve kept the
things you love—such as compelling attorney profiles—
and, with input from our readers, we’ve expanded our
editorial lineup to include a menu of great new items.
You’ll find a lot of quick reads in the front of the
magazine—such as “Discovery,” a brief, witty Q&A by one
of your colleagues. And from cover to cover, you’ll notice
bold new design elements that give the publication a
fresh look and feel.
How do we choose which lawyers to write about? First,
the attorneys must be selected to the current year’s Super
Lawyers list. Then we factor in which firms and practice
areas we’ve recently covered—we don’t want to play
favorites or ignore deserving-but-lesser-known candidates.
We aim for diversity in other areas, too: region, gender,
ethnicity. Attorneys ranking near the top of the list are
more likely to appear on the cover. And of course, the
story itself is crucial. The one thing that isn’t a factor?
Advertising. As with the Super Lawyers list, editorial is
never for sale. Our magazines and editorial team have won
more than a dozen journalism awards around the country.
In this issue, you’ll read about the persuasive voice,
gentlemanly demeanor and tenacious trial work of Booker
T. Evans Jr.—and why he didn’t know he had more than
an initial for a middle name until he was a teenager.
Taylor S. Rahn reveals her hoops history and favorite law
enforcement memorabilia, while David Wm. Engelman
shares his top tips for getting involved in pro bono work.
Thank you for reading. We would love to get your feedback
on the new and improved Super Lawyers Magazine.
