Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada’s regulatory compliance group has been
sought out by banking institutions since 1989, as it provides guidance for a variety
of legal issues. “We conduct a quarterly seminar aimed primarily for the benefit
of financial institution compliance officers and senior management, covering the
most important current events, changes in laws and regulations, [implementation
of] compliance programs,” says firm attorney Cliff Harrison. Butler Snow helps
clients with ongoing issues and prepares them for others that may arise later.
Membership in the regulatory compliance group is especially beneficial for
community banks, which may not have an extensive compliance staff. Butler Snow
also covers a wide array of other practice areas, including commercial transactions,
mergers and acquisitions, and tax and corporate law. Greg Smithers, president of
IBERIABANK’s Tennessee Market, says the attorneys at Butler Snow are “extremely
competent, extremely professional and extremely detail-oriented.”
