TEN. As in ten-figure recoveries. Girardi | Keese attorneys
have obtained payouts greater than $1 billion three times, one
of only a handful of law firms to do so. Plaintiffs in the Sempra
Energy, El Paso Gas and Vioxx lawsuits shared in multibillion-dollar settlements obtained by founding partner Tom Girardi.
NINE. Girardi | Keese has nine members of the American
Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA)—which limits its
membership to lawyers who have tried 20 civil jury trials. No
other California firm devoted to representing plaintiffs on a
contingent-fee basis has as many ABOTA members. The active
ABOTA lawyers include Tom Girardi, Jack Girardi, Bob Finnerty,
Jim O’Callahan, Dave Lira, Jake Courtney, Amy Solomon, Andre
Rekte and Shawn McCann. Two other firm lawyers are on the
verge of becoming ABOTA eligible.
SEVEN. In March, juries in three different courtrooms returned
seven-figure verdicts in cases tried by Girardi | Keese partners.
McCann won a case for a worker injured on a jobsite, Rekte prevailed
in a medical malpractice case, and Graham LippSmith succeeded
in a federal copyright and trademark misappropriation case. Each of
these verdicts exceeded $1 million before costs and fees were added.

TWO. Two Girardi | Keese lawyers, Lyssa Roberts and
McCann, were awarded the 2011 Scott Baldwin Award
by the American Association for Justice. The award
recognizes outstanding trial work by young lawyers who
actively serve the legal community.
