FIGHTING FOR INJURED
RAILROAD WORKERS
Ben B. Saunders, named again to this
year’s Louisiana Super Lawyers list,
thought he wanted to be a doctor. While
waiting for an opening in medical school,
he enrolled in law school and soon
realized how powerful his knowledge
of biology could be in helping personal
injury victims. His first big case out of law
school involved a head injury to a railroad
worker. Saunders was instantly drawn to
the complexities of the century-old FELA
law covering injured railroaders.
“Just as doctors treat patients, our
firm treats people, not corporations,”
Saunders says. “We fight for clients to
the end, through thick and thin, from
the bitter to the sweet.”
DECADES OF EXPERTISE Today,
Saunders is a national leader in
representing railroad workers who are
hurt on the job. He served as Designated
Legal Counsel for the Brotherhood of
Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen,
and was its former Chairman. He also is
designated as a Smart-UTU DLC.
Saunders is assisted by team members
Joseph Miller and Carisa Oden, both
of whom have winning track records
in federal court. Together, the firm’s
attorneys have obtained millions of
dollars in verdicts and settlements
for railroad workers throughout the
Southeast, in the states of Louisiana,
Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida,
South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia,
Maryland and Texas. Ben Saunders also
serves on the Loyola Law Alumni Board.
The firm also represents victims of
Maritime and Aviation accidents.
