As lawyers, we work hard on improving
our legal skills, but this book focuses on an
equally—if not more important—skill set:
being/becoming a kinder, better person. It
is a simple and practical discussion of the
ethics and etiquette of human interaction.
A worthy read on so many levels.

In the 1876 race between Samuel J. Tilden
and Rutherford B. Hayes, Tilden won the
popular vote, but the electoral votes of three
Southern states were not certified immediately.
The tortured path to final result, the book’s
theme, led to a trade-off, designating Hayes
president in return for the end of Reconstruction.
Sadly, many gains secured in the Civil War were
trampled with the imposition of Jim Crow laws.

I am a fan of the series, but what
strikes me is how many famous artists
and entertainers of all types have had a
piece of the action. Even if you are not
a James Bond fan, you might enjoy the
50-year photographic tour.
