Jim received his Bachelor of Arts in 1969 and Master of Arts in 1974 at
Mississippi College. From 1969 through 1972, Jim served in the U.S.
Army and served in Vietnam as a First Lieutenant with the 101 Airborne
Division. He earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1977 from the University
of Mississippi School of Law. Jim established the Shannon Law Firm
in Hazlehurst, Mississippi in 1979, where he has served as Municipal
Judge and attorney for Copiah County Board of Supervisors. Jim was
